Anne Wafula Strike, MBE

Anne provides a personal example of courage, commitment and determination that challenges misconceptions about disability. Born and raised in Kenya, Anne was stuck by polio when she was two years old and therefore has a deep connection to the work of AbleChildAfrica; we are proud to have her as a Patron. Athlete, author, and sporting ambassador, Anne inspires achievement and excellence across a broad range of life situations through motivational talks and appearances. 2004 marked the beginning of an Olympic career for Anne when she became the first wheelchair racer from East Africa to compete at the Paralympics in Athens. Anne joined Team GB and in 2007 and carried the official Paralympic Flame as one of AbleChildAfrica’s Paralympic torchbearers in London 2012.
